I walk the streets and photograph moments — chance gestures, shadows, coincidences that vanish a second later.
I started on black-and-white film and developed it myself, in a darkened bathroom, by the timer and by feel. Later I moved to digital, but the habit of seeing the world in shades of grey stayed with me — most of my photographs are black and white.
Film taught me the main thing: you have to see the frame before you press the shutter.
